The Asian Conference on Asian Studies (ACAS) is held annually alongside The Asian Conference on Cultural Studies (ACCS). Since 2011, more than 1,000 delegates have attended this annual interdisciplinary event, which takes place in Japan in the spring.
In 2016 ACAS/ACCS attracted 225 attendees representing 33 countries – a truly international event. This diversity serves as a wonderful comparative and contrastive resource.
The majority of ACAS/ACCS conference attendees are university faculty, with 57% holding an academic post. At 29% of the total registered delegates, postgraduate and doctoral students make up the next largest group of attendees. The remaining attendees come from the business sector (1%) and the public sector (1%), with 2% registered as "independent" and 10% registered as "other".
